How should I take Zithromax?
It’s important that you carry on taking Zithromax for as long as recommended by your health care provider. If you also have to take antacids, make sure you use them 2 hours before of after Zithromax to avoid interactions. This is especially true about antacids that contain aluminum and magnesium. Each tablet of capsule of Zithromax is supposed to be taken with a full glass of water as many times a day as your health care provider recommended. If you have been recommended to take oral suspension you will need to mix the medicine with some water (2 ounces approximately) and drink everything right away. Make sure you never store the medicine for longer than 12 hours and take it as soon as it’s ready. How long you will be required to take Zithromax depends on the kind of infection you have and recommendations your health care provider gave. However, you are supposed to use the entire amount of Zithromax prescribed. Even if or symptoms get better after 2-3 days and you feel that everything is under control – take the rest of Zithromax tablets exactly as prescribed. One important thing for you to know about Zithromax is that it can make you feel better before all the bacteria have been cleared out. However if you stop the treatment once you start feeling better, this can cause a relapse of infection with bacteria multiplying even faster, and the worst thing is that Zithromax is not going to be efficient against it anymore, as your bacteria will have developed resistance to it by then. The capsules of Zithromax are supposed to be taken on an empty stomach – at least an hour before having a meal or 2 hours after.
The tablet forms may be taken with or without food. People prefer to take Zithromax with food when it upsets their stomach – if this is true for you, this is also a possibility. The oral suspension is supposed to be shaken well before being used to make sure your medicine mixes evenly. Measure it with a special device to make sure the dose is correct and will work for your particular case. The liquid medicine stops being efficient after 10 days – so make sure you throw it away after this time. Never take more of Zithromax than prescribed as an overdose is possible. An overdose of Zithromax can produce the following symptoms: stomach discomfort, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. If you notice these symptoms after taking too much of Zithromax – make sure you contact your emergency center and tell the doctor that will be treatment you that you have taken to much of Zithromax. Some people get an overdose when trying to make up for the dose they missed or increase the efficiency of their treatment. In both cases these measures are inefficient, as you are always supposed to take the exact amount prescribed. If you accidentally missed a dose of Zithromax, you are recommended to take it as soon as possible. However, if you will need to take another dose pretty soon – you can skip the dose missed and go back to the regular dosing schedule.
